My Teenage Skincare Journey

I never thought skincare was important until my mom helped me see the importance of it. I was diagnosed with Atopic Dermatitis/Eczema and hated the constant itching and irritation my skin experienced. The medication cream my doctor gave me helped but was never enough.

My mom explained how drinking more water, not taking "hot showers", and properly cleansing and moisturizing my skin would be beneficial. I started bathing with black soap and moisturizing with shea butter directly afterwards. This cleared my rough patches and made my skin feel soft and no longer itchy/irritated.

She complained that I was still not consistent with cleansing my face and offered me $2 for each time I completed my facial skincare routine. Now, I cleanse, tone, use vitamin C serum, and moisturize my skin twice a day. It has made my skin look and feel so much better and now I love to do it on my own (don't tell my mom because I want my $4 lol).

My mom had trouble with her skin when she was growing up and she always tell me that "it's better and easier to care for you skin now versus repairing your damaged skin later".
