Hair/Scalp Care

Hey Guys 🙋🏿‍♀️

I just wanted to speak on ways to find the proper hair/scalp care products for all of my DIY's.

Identifying you hair texture (fine, medium, or coarse) and type (straight, wavy, curly/coiled) is key in choosing products. Also, be sure to consider your hair and scalp condition (is it dry, oily, frizzy, color-treated, and is dandruff present?). Purchasing products specific to your needs will save you a lot of time and money. A successful hair regime at home will keep your hair and scalp happy and healthy!

In the event your home treatments does not improve your condition or make it worse; please consult with a Dermatologist, Trichologist, or other medical professional.

Tips and Tricks

If you are having trouble with retaining moisture...... I suggest a deep conditioning treatment. No, you don't have to purchase more products! All you need to do is apply your conditioner, cover with a plastic cap, and apply heat for 10-15 minutes before rinsing.

Is your scalp itchy? Add a few drops of essential oil to your shampoo and conditioner. I would suggest Tea Tree, Chamomile, or Lavender because I have used them all personally but feel free to do additional research. If you do not know where to begin just visit www.healthline.com or do a google search for your specific need!

Shampoo is intended to cleanse the scalp and conditioner is intended to condition the hair. Focus on mid shaft to ends and work the product upwards from there! Unless it is a scalp conditioner, it does not need to be saturated there! Your scalp has natural oils that help lubricate the hair but mid way to ends is the part of you hair that needs the most conditioning and strengthening.

Dry hair break! If you are struggling with dryness and breakage, chances are you need to explore other ways to moisturize your hair and/or evaluate your products and replace them if they are not addressing your needs.

If you have fine hair, choose a volumizing shampoo and conditioner.

If you have dandruff, DO NOT assume your scalp is dry and add oil. Dandruff and dry scalp have similar symptoms but dry scalp flakes off and dandruff builds up before flaking off. Adding certain oils to dandruff may make it worse because the cause of dandruff is overproduction of oil. If you have dandruff, stay away from fatty oils like Coconut and Olive Oil and look for something without saturated fats. Again, consult a medical professional if at-home remedies are not helping or making matters worse.

Last but not least; if you are completely over it and wish to remove all the "guesswork" out of your hair care routine, find a great Stylist and give yourself a break! You have my permission 😀
